On last night’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert called out the ‘chicken’ president Donald Trump for refusing to have an interview with Robert Mueller.

Nobody calls me chicken…”

Last night, Stephen Colbert took to The Late Show to comment on the updates in Robert Mueller’s investigation into Donald Trump. Reportedly, Trump is refusing to have any interviews with Mueller under the advice of his legal team. This is based on the president’s history of making false statements and contradicting himself, because if he’s caught lying to the FBI, charges could be coming his way.

“Now, I know Trump watches this show, because it’s on TV,” Colbert quips. With Trump “watching” the show, Colbert addresses a message to him straight through the camera, pleading for him to ignore his lawyers. As Colbert explains, by not sitting down for his interview with Mueller, the public is going to think Trump is afraid. Speaking of — a chicken bucket is then handed to Colbert, prompting him to blurt, “Oh, wait, your fried chicken has arrived.”

Inside the KFC-style bucket, however, is absolutely nothing. Colbert begins to question where the chicken is, but then says, “Oh, I think I know.” With that, Colbert glares straight back into the camera again, looking at Donald Trump (who’s presumably watching) right in the eye. And Colbert then starts miming a chicken, and the message he’s sending to the president is clear. Trump is the chicken, and that’s how it looks to everyone else by him refusing to participate in Mueller’s investigation.
