Stephen Colbert went live on last night’s Late Show to hilariously respond to the 90 minute speech Donald Trump gave for his State of the Union address.

“We are live right now, and barely conscious following a 90 minute speech.”

Last night’s episode of The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert took the show live, a rare occurrence for the show. Earlier in the evening, Donald Trump had given his State of the Union address. For the sake of giving an immediate response, the live show let Colbert take down Trump over the event right away.

Step by step, Colbert goes through the State of the Union, offering his own responses to each of the key moments. And he has a lot of fun with it too, beginning with Trump’s opening remark about how the country has endured many storms and natural disasters. “And Stormys, don’t forget her. She was one of the most expensive disasters for you personally,” Colbert quipped.

That leads to Trump addressing those still recovering, saying how we will always pull through together. Colbert notes that this message would be comforting to the people of Puerto Rico… if they had electricity to turn their televisions on, as a million people there are still going without.

From here, Colbert is just getting started, and he takes down Trump repeatedly each step of the way. You can watch the full monologue in the YouTube video below.
