Days after Donald Trump apparently referred to Haiti and African countries as “sh-tholes”, Stephen Colbert took to The Late Show to respond.

Donald Trump’s “Sh-thole Gate” scandal is only getting stranger…

If you’re just catching up with this news somehow, I’ll sum it up for you here. Late last week, Trump found himself in trouble after referring to Haiti and African countries as “sh-tholes.” In the immediate aftermath, the White House offered no denials about these comments, and Trump even called friends to brag about it. Of course, the next day, Trump would adamantly deny having said those comments at all.

Naturally, Stephen Colbert took to The Late Show last night to offer his thoughts on what he’s calling “Sh-thole Gate.” Colbert points out how two Republican senators claim they “don’t recall the President saying those comments specifically,” which seems like a pretty flimsy denial. “Your honor, I don’t recall which knife I used to stab the victim specifically,” Colbert says, imagining a criminal trying to use that same tactic in court.

But it gets even weirder. Others in the meeting are claiming that Trump didn’t say “sh-thole,” but he said “sh-thouse” instead. “Either way, Trump is being a complete asshouse,” Colbert laments, “who maybe, just maybe, doesn’t belong in the White Hole.”
