The Jay Pharaoh series White Famous will end its run on Showtime after just one season, as the network has officially given the show the boot.

That’s gonna be a wrap on the Showtime series White Famous!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Jay Pharaoh starring series will not be back for a second season on Showtime. Though its numbers averaged around 1.8 million viewers per episode, it just wasn’t enough for Showtime to keep the series going, and the show is coming to a premature close.

Perhaps Showtime just isn’t the right home for a half hour comedy in the vein of White Famous. The series is legitimately funny, but there weren’t enough people watching. Most Showtime viewers are showing up for the hour long dramas such as Shameless and that may be partially why White Famous wasn’t getting the attention that it could have been.

Official synopsis for White Famous:

"Talented young comic Floyd Mooney is on the rise in the industry, which forces him to navigate the treacherous waters of maintaining his credibility while crossing over into becoming “white famous.” His frustrated agent, Malcolm, wants Floyd to do whatever it takes to succeed as Floyd’s roommate, Ron, remains the voice of reason amidst the chaos of differing opinions. Giving her opinion in all of this is Sadie, Floyd’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of his son."

Ultimately we will have to see what comes next for Jay Pharaoh, but given his talent, I’m sure we’ll be seeing him pop up again soon enough.
