Are you a fan of Mad About You? Cross your fingers now for the show to come back!
According to Deadline, Sony Pictures Television Studios are setting their sights on a revival of the classic 1990s sitcom. Originally aired on NBC from 1992 to 1999, the show was one of the most popular sitcoms from the era, even earning many Emmys and Golden Globes. As of now, NBC isn’t officially attached to the reboot, so which network it may wind up on remains to be seen.
The tentative plan for this revival would bring back original series stars Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt to play married couple Paul and Jamie Buchman. After their daughter Mabel heads off to college, the two are struck with “empty nest syndrome”, alone in the house again as they were at the start of their marriage.
Reiser created the series with Danny Jacobson. How involved he would be in the creative process of the revival isn’t yet known. It’s possible he could be returning only as an actor. What’s also being said is that this will be a limited run revival, meaning the show wouldn’t be coming back for good.
