For last night’s season finale of HBO’s Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver set his sights on the disaster that is known as the presidency of Donald Trump.

For the final show of Last Week Tonight‘s fourth season, John Oliver was apparently saving his most scathing rant for last!

Last year, Donald Trump became the president of the United States, for better or for worse. His critics were sure it would be a disaster; his supporters said to give him a chance. One year later, enough time has passed for us to really look at this thing and see what it has become.

On the show, Oliver takes a look at the presidency from a different approach. Rather than the obvious mistakes, he highlights the “norms governing how our leaders engage with us” and how that changes the way we all treat each other.

First, Oliver stresses how everything Trump says is total nonsense. He points out how they have to regularly read transcripts of all of Trump’s speeches, and once you take out the sensational delivery, they make no sense at all. To prove that point a narrator reads an entire speech from Trump and it’s absolutely baffling to hear. Oliver uses the predictive text from an iPhone to come up with a new speech starting with the words “The nuclear,” and it was scary how it actually made more sense than something Trump would say.
