Dora the Explorer to become a Michael Bay produced movie
By Jeremy Dick
The popular children’s TV show Dora the Explorer is now in the process of being developed as a feature film by explosion lover Michael Bay.
Have you ever noticed your kid watching Dora the Explorer on Nickelodeon and though, “That needs to be made into a live action movie by Michael Bay?”
I’m sure you haven’t, but Bay doesn’t care. He’s producing the movie anyway. Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, we have learned that Bay is producing a Dora movie with Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.
Nick Stoller, writer and director of The Muppets, has been hired to pen the screenplay for what it to be a feature film adaptation of Dora the Explorer. While there aren’t many details yet available on the plot, it appears that it the movie’s version of Dora will be teen-aged, rather than the 7 year old she is on the cartoon. The movie will see her moving in with her cousin, Diego.
The cartoon series Dora the Explorer ran from 2000 to 2014. It centers on the adventures of a young explorer named Dora and her monkey friend Boots. Dora’s cousin Diego was also featured regularly on the series, and had his own spin-off as well called Go, Diego, Go.
