In his new monologue for last night’s episode of Real Time, host Bill Maher took down Donald Trump after his controversial feud with a war widow.

I think we all knew Bill Maher just had to weigh in on this situation!

Let’s rewind for a second for context. Donald Trump found himself facing a lot of flak after a congresswoman revealed the “disrespectful” phone call he made to a war widow. Allegedly, Trump told her that her deceased husband “knew what he signed up for” in a way that came off as disrespectful. Trump now says that it’s a total lie, though the widow is backing up the congresswoman’s version of the story.

Kicking off his monologue last night, Maher said that Trump has again hit a new low, though he hesitates to say that. After all, Maher says that all the time, so he clarified that the episode isn’t a repeat. Then he gets into the biggest Trump story of the week, which is of course the story about the phone call.

“If you could take a week where it is revealed Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulted every single female in show business, and still be the worst fat gross creep?” Maher says in response. “That’s pretty good!”

Maher keeps the heat up, saying this of course is happening because it’s part of Trump’s pattern: Bluff, lie, attack. He doesn’t know anything, says Maher, so he always has to bluff when he’s asked about something. When called out, then he will just go to the next step, which is to just flat out lie. And when that gets called out, he just goes into attack mode. It’s all a part of the president’s predictable formula.
