Top 10 late night TV comedians, ranked from worst to best
By Jeremy Dick
8. Jimmy Kimmel (Jimmy Kimmel Live!)
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel has been in the game since he began hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2003. Even longer if you count his run on The Man Show before then. And in the years since, he has become one of the more respected comedians on television, having been invited to host the Emmys on two separate occasions. He also hosted this year’s Academy Awards.
While Kimmel is definitely a funny person, sometimes his comedy can be described as hit or miss. You’re not guaranteed to laugh the entire way through a show the way you might with the names high atop this list. When he’s funny, he’s really funny, and some viral clips of his might be some of the funniest stuff you’ll see on late night TV. But, at the end of the day, his show isn’t exactly must-see television.
In any case, however, Kimmel is up for two Emmys in September. His ABC show is up for Outstanding Variety Talk Series, and his gig hosting last year’s Oscars is up for Outstanding Special Class Program. With competition that’s a bit too strong, I don’t see him winning the former, though I do see Kimmel taking the latter.
