Game of Thrones: Sophie Turner talks spoiling Ed Sheeran cameo

The controversial cameo of singer Ed Sheeran on Game of Thrones was meant to be a surprise, until Sophie Turner just had to go and spoil it.

Many fans of Game of Thrones were quite surprised to see Ed Sheeran popping up on the popular HBO series. But star Maisie Williams certainly would have been more shocked than any of us — if it weren’t for her co-star Sophie Turner’s big mouth!

Via Independent.co.uk, it seems Turner is coming clean about spoiling the cameo for Williams, which was meant to be a surprise. Those in charge had been keeping Sheeran’s involvement a secret from Williams, ultimately hoping to shock her on set with Sheeran. But things didn’t go according to plan.

From an interview with Entertainment Tonight:

"“That was fun because Maisie loves Ed Sheeran and David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] had it as, like, a surprise for her.So they just, they didn’t tell her… I told her by accident! I was like: ‘Oh, when’s Ed Sheeran coming on the show?’ But yeah, they kind of did it as a surprise.”"

Turner goes on to joke that she’s been pushing to get Justin Bieber onto the show for years without success, and that this wasn’t fair. Of course, she’s only joking. If you thought the fan backlash was bad over Sheeran’s cameo, could you imagine it being Justin Bieber instead?!
