Anthony Hopkins once trolled Silence of the Lambs filmgoers
By Jeremy Dick
Legendary actor Anthony Hopkins stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about the time he trolled filmgoers at a Silence of the Lambs showing.
For decades, Anthony Hopkins has been one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood. He is even appearing in the new film Transformers: The Last Knight, which is in theaters as of today. The star is still burning brightly for the legendary Mr. Hopkins.
To help promote the new film, Hopkins came as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. After showing a clip from the new Transformers flick, Hopkins and Kimmel get into some of the actor’s past. This includes mentioning The Silence of the Lambs, one of the most acclaimed films of Hopkins career in which he portrays cannibal Hannibal Lecter.
Kimmel talks to Hopkins about whether he actually pays to go to movies. The subject reminds the actor of a time when he went and saw The Silence of the Lambs many years ago. With nobody in the audience knowing he was there, Hopkins hid in the back during the showing of the movie.
As luck would have it, the power went out in the theater due to a storm. Moments later, a woman in front of Hopkins said, “It’s a blackout. I think Hannibal Lecter’s in the theater.” She then turned around and saw him, freaking out and exclaiming, “Oh, my God, it is!” Personally, I envy this woman’s awesome experience!
You can watch Hopkins tell the tale in the video below.
