After tackling the coal industry in a recent episode of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver is now facing a lawsuit from coal CEO, Robert Murray.

Welcome to America, the home of the lawsuit!

On a recent episode of Last Week Tonight, host John Oliver focused his attention on coal. Specifically, he pointed out the apparent greed of the CEOs in the industry and how they screw their employees. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the verbal slaughter that Oliver had to give for bigwigs in the industry like Robert Murray.

Well, Murray saw the episode, and he’s not too pleased about it. In fact, CNN is reporting that Murray is suing Oliver because of the episode. Saying that this “ruthless character assassination” was “meticulously planned,” Murray is claiming the comedian’s goal was to inflict harm to Murray and his companies.

Even on the show, Oliver predicts he would receive cease and desist letters from Murray. Still, he proceeds to go into a verbal lashing, pulling no punches on his honest feelings. But maybe what hurt Murray the most was Oliver bringing in a giant squirrel to help lay down the finishing blows.

If you missed Oliver’s take down of the coal industry, you can watch it below, courtesy of HBO on YouTube.

Murray may not like the video, but that’s because the truth hurts. I can see this lawsuit blowing up in his face, only doing more to expose the vile person he really is.

It’s going to take a lot more than a bogus lawsuit to stop John Oliver. Don’t expect the Last Week Tonight host to give up anytime soon! And be sure to watch new episodes of his show Sunday nights on HBO at 11PM EST!
