Beloved veteran actor Adam West, best known for his run as TV’s Batman, has sadly passed away at the age of 88.

We’ve got some terrible news to kick the day off here, as it is now apparent Adam West has passed away. Many major news outlets, such as The Hollywood Reporter, are reporting the news. I’ve got to be honest here — this one particularly stings.

West died Friday night at his home in Los Angeles after a battle with leukemia. He was surrounded by his loved ones. Confirming West’s passing in a statement, his family says, the actor “always saw himself as The Bright Knight and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero.”

Upon being cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the 1966 Batman TV series, West forever became a fixture in pop culture. No matter how many actors would precede him in the role in various films, fans of the Caped Crusader always respected West as the original. And until the end of time, he will always have that honor as part of his legacy.

Decades after his run as Batman, West would play himself on the popular animated series Family Guy. As the mayor of the fictional town of Quahog, West always stole the show just by satirizing himself. For many fans, such as myself, he was by far the funniest character on the show.

“Nobody messes with Adam We!”

Those of us here at Last Night On offer our condolences to West’s family and friends. As painful as this is for all of us fans, it really has to hurt for those closest to him. Rest in peace to a hilarious and amazing actor whom will be very deeply missed.
