14 ‘Breaking Bad’ characters on ‘Better Call Saul’
By Jeremy Dick
12. Tuco Salamanca
You remember Tuco Salamanca. This ruthless drug dealer would become one of Walter White’s first adversaries on Breaking Bad. It was Tuco whom Walter first presented himself as “Heisenberg” to. After making an explosive first impression, Walter and Tuco form a drug-dealing relationship which isn’t meant to last. Things culminate in Hank killing Tuco, though a long time would occur before Hank would realize his connection to Walter.
Tuco returns for a pretty large role in the first season of Better Call Saul. He shares a memorable scene with Jimmy McGill, in which McGill talks him out of murdering two young men. Instead, Jimmy convinces Tuco to just break one of each of their legs instead.
Subsequently, Mike works out a plan to get Tuco sent to prison by making Tuco assault him in front of policemen. In Season 3, dialogue suggests that Tuco had stabbed someone behind bars and has since gone into solitary confinement.
