Saturday Night Live bid farewell to cast members Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer by putting them together in a Stranger Things graduation skit.

With last night’s Season 42 finale of SNL, the show bid its final farewells to two longtime cast members.

Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer have given their notices, ending their runs as of yesterday. Moynihan had served nine years on the show, while Bayer had done seven. Both have long been two of SNL‘s most popular performers.

During the show, Bayer and Moynihan would do some of their most memorable characters. But the show found an appropriate way to send them off by pairing them in a final skit. Using a “graduation” theme, it’s a sly way of telling the two goodbye through the sketch.

In the skit, the two play graduating seniors in high school, along with Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney. Upon graduating, they are saying goodbye to their school by doing a performance. The bit also spoofs the popular Netflix original horror series Stranger Things, even having Moynihan joke “That’s a Stranger Things,” to spell it out.

As the seniors perform, Bayer stands next to Moynihan. It’s sad but cool at the same time to see them in their final ever SNL sketch together. You can watch the moment for yourself in the YouTube video below.

Both of these performers are far too talented for us not to see them quite a bit elsewhere. Wherever they’ll wind up, they’ll be sure to make whatever it is much funnier.
