Melissa McCarthy hosted Saturday Night Live for her fifth time last night, and Steve Martin surprised her on stage to induct her into the 5-Timers Club.

The 5-Timers Club is something specially reserved only for those who’ve hosted Saturday Night Live at least five times. This club first came to fruition way back in 1990 when Tom Hanks coined the phrase upon hosting the show for his fifth time, joining the likes of Steve Martin. Over the years, other big name actors like Alec Baldwin, Justin Timberlake, and Bill Murray have joined the club.

Last night, Melissa McCarthy hosted SNL for the fifth time, unofficially making her a member of the club. To make it official, though, Steve Martin surprised the actress on stage to formally induct her! Talk about having quite the honor.

The moment happened at the very end of the show, when many people had already fallen asleep. Just before the closing credits, McCarthy spoke about hosting the show for the fifth time. That’s when Steve Martin himself came onto the stage, wearing a jacket with an embroidered number 5 on it.

“Welcome to the 5-Timers Club, Melissa!” Martin immediately told McCarthy. This prompted a mention from Alec Baldwin (having appeared on the show as Donald Trump), telling Martin, “Now Steve, you told me not to wear my 5-Timers jacket to this show!”

“Oh, I did? That’s weird,” Martin replied, brushing him off before moving back onto McCarthy. He then tells Melissa they are officially presenting her with her own 5-Timers jacket, which Kate McKinnon wraps around her. It’s truly an awesome and special moment, and you can check it out in the video below.
