Lester Holt interviews Alec Baldwin as Trump on SNL

Alec Baldwin returned as President Donald Trump for a mock interview with Lester Holt in the cold open for last night’s Saturday Night Live.
Anytime Alec Baldwin mocks Donald Trump on SNL, it’s pure magic. The way he mocks the president has always been hilarious. Seeing it drive the sensitive POTUS mad on Twitter is only icing on the cake.
On last night’s new episode of Saturday Night Live, Baldwin took on the role of President Trump once again. This time, it’s for a mock interview with Lester Holt (Michael Che). Obviously, the president is ripped in the segment for hist most recent problems, including the controversial decision to fire James Comey.
Trump wastes no time in dodging the Comey questions, quickly diverting attention to “winning the election fair and square”. Holt reminds Trump how he literally says this all the time, and Trump owns up to it. “It’s one of my greatest hits, and my fans love when I play the hits,” he says on always bragging about winning the election.
The president does finally address the Comey situation, however, admitting straight up he fired the FBI Director because of the Russia investigation. With Trump confessing to this obstruction of justice, Holt is stunned. “Wait, so, did I get him? Is this all over?” he wonders. A voice in his headset quickly reminds him that “nothing matters” anyway.
Even Paul Ryan makes a special appearance in the skit, serving Trump ice cream. He’s quickly brushed away, mentioning to Holt how the president only feeds him dog food. Trump also addresses the comparisons to Nixon and other recent issues.

If there were a way for Donald Trump to censor SNL, I have no doubt he’d do it. These skits of Baldwin mocking him make the president look like a joke. But for everyone but Trump, they’re hilarious.
