Stephen Colbert says James Comey just got Trump’d
By Jeremy Dick
On The Late Show last night, Stephen Colbert spoke about FBI Director James Comey’s recent firing, telling the man he just got “Trump’d”.
By now, you’re surely aware of the news of FBI Director James Comey’s sudden firing. It’s more than a tad suspicious, given the timing of the situation. President Trump relieves Comey of his duties while Comey is actively investigating Trump’s ties to Russia.
On The Late Show last night, Stephen Colbert made his thoughts on the matter clear. “While it looks like Donald Trump fired James Comey to stop the Russian investigation, that is why,” Colbert said on the show. The Late Show host mentions that if there’s anything Trump has taught us over the past couple years, it’s that “what it seems like he’s doing is exactly what he’s doing.”
Apparently, Trump has been planning to boot Comey for about a week, and tasked the Department of Justice to look for a sufficient reason. Colbert jokes that this is resulting in their name change to the “Deparment of Justification”. He then points out that the best thing they could come up with to fire Comey was for his treatment of Hillary Clinton’s email investigation.
But one of the worst parts about Comey’s firing, as Colbert points out, is the way he found out about it. It seems Comey got the news by seeing it on a television screen in the background during a meeting. At first, Comey thought it was a funny prank, leaving Colbert to inform he he wasn’t pranked, he was Trump’d!
Colbert spends several more minutes talking about the Comey firing and its suspicious nature. You can watch the entire segment in the YouTube video below.

Although Colbert is a comedian, he does raise some very valid points. But something tells me they won’t be addressed by the White House.
