Jimmy Fallon is ending the week with a night off in preparation for his four-day stint in Florida next week. The host is taking The Tonight Show to Universal Orlando Resort to commemorate the opening of his new ride, “Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon,” at the theme park next Thursday, April 6th, when he’ll be joined by his predecessor, Jay Leno.

It was an eventful week for Fallon on The Tonight Show, which saw him transform into his character Sara for a new “Ew!” skit with Demi Lovato, play VR Pictionary with Michael Che, Dove Cameron and Scarlett Johansson, and surprise the Ghost in the Shell actress with a magic trick by Dan White. News also broke that his longtime head writer A.D. Miles, who has been with him since his Late Night days, will be stepping down in the coming weeks.
The shake up presents an opportunity for a reboot for Fallon after he’s seen his ratings drop precipitously in the past year, falling to second place behind The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in total viewers, though he’s holding on to the top spot among adults 18-49. That has allegedly prompted NBC to encourage the host to get more political in his skits and opening monologue in an effort to compete with his late-night rival.
Soon after his return from Orlando, the comedian will return to SNL to host the show for a third time, joined by Harry Styles of One Direction making his solo debut. It will be the first of four episodes to air live across the country for the first time ever as the show closes out its 42nd season, its most successful in 22 years.
