When does Saturday Night Live return with new episodes?
By Hector Cruz
Saturday Night Live finally returns from hiatus next week on April 8th.
SNL has been on break for nearly three weeks since the Scarlett Johannson-hosted episode on March 12th. While there’s no new episode again this Saturday, the show will be back next week on April 8th with host Louis CK and musical guest The Chainsmokers.
It should be an exciting episode given that it won’t only give us the opportunity to see Alec Baldwin’s latest take on Trump, but also because CK made headlines the last time he hosted the show two years ago for his controversial monologue where he joked about child molestation, causing a stir online. The comedian, whose Netflix special premieres this Tuesday, April 4th, also once revealed that he had a contentious disagreement with SNL boss Lorne Michaels over the length of his monologue when he hosted in 2014. Watch both versions below:
The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon will host the show for a third time the following Saturday, April 15th for the first of four episodes that will air live simultaneously in all four time zones, the first time ever the show will pull off that feat. He’ll be joined by One Direction’s Harry Styles making his solo debut as musical guest.
Saturday Night Live will then go on break again until May 6th, when actor Chris Pine hosts the show for the first time. He’ll be followed by Sean Spicer impersonator Melissa McCarthy hosting on May 13th, with Dwayne Johnson closing out the season on May 20th. Both McCarthy and Johnson will join the exclusive five-timers club the nights they host their respective episodes. The musical guests for the final three episodes will be announced in the coming weeks.

SNL has been so successful this season — drawing an average of 11 million viewers a week — that NBC has ordered four prime time “Weekend Update” specials co-anchored by Michael Che and Colin Jost to air this summer ahead of Season 43. The new 30-minute series will premiere on Thursday, Aug. 10th.
Saturday Night Live returns on April 8th at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
