Bill Maher is no stranger to creating controversy, and we’re going through the late night star’s 30 most controversial moments.

Obviously, Bill Maher is someone who says what he thinks, regardless of how it might make others feel. There is almost nothing off limits when it comes to making jokes. He sticks to his opinions too, which often ruffles feathers. With that said, let’s look at the 30 most controversial times Maher has made headlines, starting with…

30. Maher refers to Donald Trump voters as drug addicts

One of the common insults for Trump supporters is that they’re idiots. Democratic voters say that it’s incredibly dumb to elect someone like Donald Trump into office. But Bill Maher says that Trump supporters are not simpletons after all, and that there’s actually a good reason for their choice of candidate.

Maher points out that Trump won 80% of the states with the biggest heroin problem. The 14 states with the highest amount of painkiller prescriptions per person also all went with Trump. Pennsylvania and Ohio counties struggling with rampant opiate abuse are also Trump winning counties.

The implication here, of course, is that drug dependency is influencing these voters’ state of mind. Instead of calling them idiots, Maher says we should call them what they are: drug addicts. The comments obviously did not sit well with the conservative crowd.
