John Oliver breaks down Obamacare on Last Week Tonight

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver broke down the plans to repeal Obamacare and the replacement options that republicans have in store.

One of the bigger issues for republicans over the better part of the past decade has been repealing Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act. However, the HBO series Last Week Tonight with John Oliver wanted to break down what republicans are going to do to actually replace the plan that’s currently in place.

During this Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver and his staff put together a segment discussing the benefits and drawbacks of the Affordable Care Act while explaining why so many conservatives are against the plan to provide healthcare to millions of Americans.

One of the reasons, as Oliver pointed out, has a lot to do with the name “Obamacare”. Oliver then started to break down some of the options that republicans have discussed to replace Obamacare, including “block grants”, “high-risk pools” and “health savings accounts” while explaining why it would be hard for any of them to work.

The Affordable Care Act is obviously an important issue for a lot of Americans who relied on it for health insurance. However, as Oliver pointed out, Trump has promised that everyone is going to be covered, and it’s going to cost less than Obamacare for the government.

That’s a pretty big promise to try and live up to, and as Oliver has pointed out, the clock is now ticking for republicans to get something done.
