Colbert ethered the hell out of Betsy DeVos on Late Show

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert went all in on Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos on Tuesday night following her confirmation.

Tuesday was a tough day for liberals and Democrats across the country after Betsy DeVos was confirmed as Secretary of Education. Apparently the audience of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert wasn’t too thrilled either.

During Tuesday night’s episode of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert discussed two members of Trump’s administration during his opening monologue. Colbert started with chief strategist Steve Bannon and his less than flattering cover of TIME magazine. He then moved to DeVos and her confirmation that occurred earlier in the day.

Colbert didn’t seem pleased with the new Secretary of Education, possibly because she never attended, worked in or sent her kids to public schools. He also joked that because only 50 of 100 senators voted for her, she’s going to start making 50 percent a passing grade.

One of the biggest reasons people aren’t happy with DeVos getting confirmed is the fact that the DeVos family donated more than $200 million to Republican efforts. You can watch the entire segment on DeVos in the YouTube video below.

While Colbert continues to take shots at Trump and members of his administration, the constant roasting of these people has been helping his ratings. In fact, for the first time since Colbert first took over as the host for The Late Show, the CBS series was able to beat Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show staff in ratings last week.

The increased ratings are nice, but I still have a pretty good feeling that Colbert isn’t just calling out Trump for the ratings.
