Craig Ferguson is launching a daily “format-free” show on SiriusXM.

After recently lamenting that he no longer had a show where he could comment on the news of the day, former Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson has revealed that he is getting his own program on SiriusXM, aptly titled, The Craig Ferguson Show, as part of a two-year deal.

According to Variety, it will feature the Scottish comedian interviewing celebrities, performing sketches, interacting with listeners on the phone, and giving his take on current events, in addition to correspondent stories. It will be broadcast live from Los Angeles, airing weekdays from 6-8 p.m. ET starting on Feb. 27. on the Comedy Greats Channel.

“This is premium quality drive-time entertainment. It’s like Game of Thrones in your car without pictures. Also, given recent events on earth, I wanted to return to a daily show without the restriction of wearing pants or shaving [anywhere],” said Ferguson. “I look forward to working in an environment that has zero censorship and zero network interference. The melon-farmers at SiriusXM told me to say that.”

More from Late Late Show

He also pledged that he would only have guests on that interest him, and not people who were only there to promote their latest project, and he admitted that he would be getting more political than he was during his Late Late Show tenure given the current environment.

“It’s not going to be an overtly political show, but the world is overtly political right now so there will be a lot of that,” Ferguson said. “After the election, the job of a comedian is to speak truth to power — or speak alt-facts to power.”

He added that he has no regrets about leaving his last gig because he felt that his humor wasn’t a great fit for the genre, stating: “The shows have either become super-political or super-glitzy show business. I didn’t fit into either camp particularly well.”

While fans of the former late-night host will no doubt be excited to once again get the comic’s distinct point of view on a daily basis, enthusiasm may be tempered given that the show will be on a platform that’s not accessible to everyone, and in a format that inhibits exposure to the physical and visual elements of Ferguson’s talents.

Ferguson left The Late Late Show in 2014 after ten years as host, and has since gone on to host History’s Join or Die, and the now-cancelled syndicated game show Celebrity Name Game, which wraps up its run in March after three seasons.
