14. Baby Judith Grimes is kept safe and healthy

She may not have any lines, but little Judy is one of the most interesting characters on the show. Keeping her safe has always been a priority for those in the group. The survival of the show’s most innocent person is very important for everyone. It gives a sense of hope moving forward, the idea that people really can create a new life in this otherwise awful world.

Protecting Judith has proven to be difficult at times. But it also makes for very intense programming. It was terrifying when Gareth and the cannibals were closing in on her in the church. I was equally worried when Father Gabriel was sneaking Judith through the horde when zombies busted into Alexandria. When Negan found her more recently, I was afraid he’d end up taking her back with him to the Sanctuary.

So far, however, baby Judith is still kicking. I want to see her go the distance and survive the duration of the entire series. But to get her there, she’s going to have to overcome a lot of hurdles. Hopefully the group succeeds in keeping her safe for the rest of Season 7 and beyond.
