Comedian Aziz Ansari will be making his debut on Saturday Night Live this upcoming January 21st.

We’re now into a new year of Saturday Night Live, which means it’s time to start hearing who will be the first block of hosts for the first shows of the year. It was announced at the tail end of 2016 that Star Wars actress Felicity Jones would deb hosting the first show of the year, but beyond that we didn’t know what to expect.

Part of the mystery ended on Tuesday, when we heard who the host after Jones would be. Parks and Rec star Aziz Ansari will be returning to NBC to host SNL for the first time in his career.

Ansari confirmed the booking on his Twitter account on Tuesday:

The choice makes perfect sense. Anari’s comedic career speaks for itself, as he’s made a name in projects like Parks and Rec as well as the Emmy-winning Masters of None. Ansari picked up an Emmy for writing, which probably won’t be the last time that happens.

He has all of the comedic sensibilities to turn in a fantastic show, and it’s going to be exciting to see how he crafts his week at SNL into his own thing. Dave Chappelle set the bar as high as he possibly could when he hosted back in November and the show has been on a tear since then.

Just like with Chappelle’s show being timed with the election of Donald Trump, Ansari’s show will be the first official episode of Trump’s presidency. He’s slated to be sworn in the day before, on January 20th.

We can fully expect someone as bright as Ansari to welcome Trump to the presidency with both middle fingers extended high and proud.
