Rob Lowe (Virginia)

Virginian actor Rob Lowe was originally best known as a movie star. He first rose to prominence in the 80s by appearing in various feature films. This would include The OutsidersOxford Blues, and St. Elmo’s Fire. He’d go on to appear in classic comedy films in the 90s like Tommy BoyAustin Powers, and Wayne’s World.

For a while, Lowe’s star power seemed to be fading. However, he revitalized it by becoming an acclaimed television star. His best role is probably that of Sam Seaborn on the series The West Wing, which garnered him a lot of critical praise. But he stuck with nailing comedy as well, appearing as Chris Traeger on the sitcom show Parks and Recreation.

Because of his performance on The West Wing, Lowe was nominated in 2001 for a Primetime Emmy Award. In addition, he’s gotten six Golden Globe nominations, touching in four of the seven overall categories for male actors.

All of this success led to Lowe being considered as a permanent replacement for Michael Strahan on Live! With Kelly and Michael. However, on his own accord, Lowe decided not to pursue the gig any longer. He voluntarily walked away from the race.
