Ty Burrell (Oregon)

Funnyman Ty Burrell has come a long way since being born in Grants Pass, Oregon. After attending university in the state, he pursued an acting career. He started to get film roles in the early 2000s. This includes having parts in Black Hawk Down as well as the remake of the George A. Romero horror film Dawn of the Dead.

Burrell would pop up in various places in the following years. He had a knack for getting cast on television shows which wouldn’t last for very long. Casting directors apparently love the guy, all he needed to do was find the right project which would last. By holding out just a couple more years, he was able to do exactly that.

Modern Family came along and cast Burrell as the patriarch Phil Dunphy. I don’t need to tell you how successful this series has become. It’s now one of the most popular sitcoms in history, still sitting high atop that mountain today. For his role as Phil, Burrell has gathered an impressive seven total Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, winning two of those in the process. He is also the recipient of the individual SAG award in 2014, dethroning Alec Baldwin who had won it for seven straight years.
