Chuck Norris (Oklahoma)
Did you know that when Chuck Norris does push-ups, he’s not really pushing himself up— he’s pushing the earth down? That’s one of many Chuck Norris “facts” you could find if you were anywhere near the internet around ten years ago. These outlandish, fictional facts exaggerating how tough Norris is are still one of the funniest and most well-known internet memes.
But before becoming the man the bogeyman checks his closet for at night, Norris became well known as a TV star. A martial artist, he appeared in various films. He would then have a short-lived cartoon in the 80s called Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos. As the memes suggest, you’d hardly ever see him lose a fight, and it became a running joke.
Certainly, though his most well-known work is his stint on Walker: Texas Ranger. Running for many years, Norris portrayed the titular character, restoring law and order in the Texan heat. This series would run from 1993 until 2001, proving to be very successful. And aside from playing Cordell Walker on the series itself, Norris was just as involved behind the camera. He even sang the official theme song for the show.
