Eric Stonestreet (Kansas)
As a child born in Kansas City, Kansas, future actor Eric Stonestreet wanted to be a clown. By age 11, he would create his own clown character and literally work children’s birthday parties. Later in life, while studying sociology at Kansas City University, Stonestreet got involved in doing plays. The taste for performing had him hooked enough to pursue fully an entertainment career. That’s when he wound up moving to Los Angeles.
Stonestreet’s first breakout role was as a recurring character on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He also shows his face in a ton of other shows, including Malcolm in the Middle, The Mentalist, ER, The West Wing, Bones, and American Horror Story. He has a huge television resume, but, obviously, there’s one role, in particular, most of us know him the best for.
I am talking about the sitcom Modern Family. In the mockumentary style series, Stonestreet plays Cam Tucker, one-half of a homosexual marriage. Stonestreet plays the role so well that it has earned him three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Of those three nominations, he WON two of them. The role also nabbed him three Golden Globe nominations.
