27. Maher reveals Trump’s surrogates are just as insane

For Bill Maher, it’s baffling why so many Republicans are supporting Donald Trump. But wherever they come from, the Republican nominee has gotten many surrogates on his side. Who are these people backing Trump? Why do they feel he’d be such a good president, and how would they contribute to his campaign?

This becomes the subject of scrutiny on Real Time. Maher first plays a clip of Trump literally saying to always hang around unsuccessful people as they’re bound to respect you. That seems to explain some of it, anyway, such as Rudy Giuliani. Maher throws further shade at Giuliani for apparently forgetting about 9/11, even though he still profits from it.

The Real Time host continues to run down all of Trump’s well known surrogates. He roasts Trump’s sons for being nothing but clones of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho. Pastor Mark Burns, another surrogate, is exposed as a liar on live TV. More and more Trumpers are taken down repeatedly in the segment.

But Maher’s favorite surrogate of Trump’s is Michael Cohen. When asked on CNN about the campaign’s declining poll numbers, Cohen freezes like a deer in the headlights. It all really makes Trump’s biggest followers seem quite clueless.
