2. Negan beats Glenn to death in front of everyone
There was no eeny, meeny, miney, mo this time. From out of nowhere, he swings the bat down on Glenn’s head! His skull is crushed and one of his eyeballs is bulging out. He calls for Maggie, giving her his farewells, before Negan brings Lucille down again. And again. And again and again.
Just like Abraham, Glenn’s head is turned to mush. The poor guy is pulverized by the vicious leader of the Saviors. Thinking Abraham would be the only victim, this was just brutal damage for most viewers of the show. After everything he’s done for the members of the group and all he’s been through, this was where it all ends for Glenn.
Maggie, as you can expect, is devastated. Negan and his men leave, telling them he’ll be back in a week for half of their supplies. Maggie tells the others to go back to Alexandria, and she will fight them. But Rick and Carl manage to convince her to come back with them.
The most heartbreaking moment is a visual Rick has of what could have been. He pictures a Thanksgiving celebration in Alexandria, complete with Glenn and Abraham still there. It’s now nothing more than a fantasy, and it can never be, thanks to Negan.
