26. Donald Trump’s guest hosting gig offends Latinos

Before he decided he was a politician and presidential candidate, rich doofus Donald Trump was nothing more than a reality television star. He was mostly known for his ridiculously horrible hairstyle, screaming at people that they were fired, and just being a completely intolerable human being. But he sure is famous, which is probably why SNL brought him in as a host.

As you can expect, a lot of people weren’t happy about this. Especially as it after NBC already cut ties with Trump based on his anti-Hispanic comments. Infamously, he referred to Mexicans as “rapists” and “criminals”, alienating an entire demographic of American citizens. But although the network no longer wanted anything to do with Trump, Lorne Michaels has the power to bring anyone he wants to SNL.

Trump hosted an episode of the show and Hispanics were furious. Many called for NBC to even apologize to them personally for bringing an apparent racist onto the program. But NBC passed the blame to Michaels, who stood by his decision. As the episode drew nearly 10 million viewers, Michaels admitted it was all about the ratings.
