4. Andrew Dice Clay makes multiple performers boycott the show

One of the most offensive comedians of all time is Andrew Dice Clay. First becoming famous in the 80s, Clay’s foul-mouthed humor was always ruffling peoples’ feathers. Sparing no group of people, Clay delivers many jokes which are racist, sexist, or similarly very offensive.

Still, the Dice Man had a lot of fans back in 1990. This is why Lorne Michaels brought him in to guest host an episode of Saturday Night Live. But not everyone was happy about it. This even included a performer on the show and the planned musical guest.

Cast member Nora Dunn outright refused to work with Clay and did not appear in the episode. Musical guest Sinead O’Connor joined Dunn in boycotting the show as well. The performers were unhappy with Clay’s misogynistic material and did not want to be seen as supporting it in any way whatsoever.

Even some fans in attendance were very unhappy with Clay’s presence. When he arrived, several chants were heard for the comedian to just “go away”. Having Clay host was probably not worth all of this trouble, and he never had the gig again.
