30 most scorching Colbert takedowns of Hillary Clinton

28. Hillary’s Twitter strategy backfires
On the topic of Hillary Clinton failing to connect with Americans, particularly younger voters, Clinton would once again look like a clueless grandmother who just got her first smart phone when she attempted a drive for attention on Twitter. With the concept of making tuition free for low-income Amerians (admittedly a noble cause), Clinton asked her Twitter followers to demonstrate, using only three emojis, how their student loan debt made them feel.
It would seem that Mrs. Clinton doesn’t fully understand just how crippling this student loan debt really is for millions of Americans. The tweet would ultimately cause more controversy and bring insults her way more than it helped her campaign. On The Late Show, Stephen Colbert basically explained why by putting it into this nutshell:
“Yes. Because nothing shows respect for college educated voters like asking them to sum up a lifetime of crushing debt in three cartoon faces.”
In other words, it’s probably not the most appropriate topic to use those silly emoji faces with. Seeing Clinton using emojis in general already seems strange to begin with, like an obvious attempt to fit in with the younger, Snapchatting crowd— it didn’t help to try to use them with such a sensitive topic.
