4. Stewart refuses to let Fox downplay Romney video

What damaged Mitt Romney’s presidential run the most was the release of a secretly recorded video which showed the Republican saying some disparaging remarks about 47% of the American people. But never to let their anti-Obama go down without a fight, Fox News jumped to Romney’s rescue in the aftermath, downplaying the video and coming up with all sorts of justifications for it.

On The Daily Show, Jon Stewart played a bunch of clips of Fox personalities talking about how while the comments weren’t phrased very well, they were accurate. One of them even said that this is actually a “win” for Romney, who’s apparently just telling it like it is and should be praised for his honesty. Stewart dubbed the entire fiasco “Bullshit Mountain” and tore into Fox for their attempts to downplay what was simply a gigantic blunder for Romney:

“Let me sum up the message from Bullshit Mountain, if I may. This inartfully stated dirty liberal smear is a truthful expression of Mitt Romney’s political philosophy and it is a winner. Let me tell you something, you don’t summit Bullshit Mountain unless you know your way around a turd or two.”
