Tina Fey (Pennsylvania)

After growing up in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Tina Fey earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and started taking comedy classes. While performing with The Second City, Fey came into contact with Saturday Night Live head writer Adam McKay, who asked her to write some scripts for Lorne Michaels. She was soon after hired as a writer, eventually working her way up to head writer and performing in sketches herself.

When Fey became a regular on the series, she was named the new co-anchor with Jimmy Fallon on Weekend Update. She didn’t actually audition for the spot, but Lorne Michaels took a chance with her. Fortunately for him and the fans, she turned out to be possibly the best Weekend Update anchor the series had sever seen. It only got even better when Amy Poehler later joined Fey as a co-anchor, as the two of them together are always hilarious.

Fey was also very hysterical in the many, many sketches she appeared in, often times with Poehler. Her most famous impression from the series would definitely be Sarah Palin, a role which she continues to occasionally reprise in guest appearances on the show. In 2006, she left SNL to develop her own TV series 30 Rock, which ran from that year until 2013.
