There is no doubt that we look forward to Monday episodes of The Daily Show. While the co-hosts are great, there’s something that Jon Stewart offers that none of the others can, and that all comes from his veteran experience on late night TV.
The bad news on Monday, Jan. 19w as that he was unexpectedly off the air. Comedy Central opted to hold back from new episodes on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, similar to CBS and ABC. In the end, only NBC aired new episodes of their late night shows.
The Daily Show stuck to the routine of having a co-host for the rest of the week. Josh Johnson took over from Tuesday through to Thursday, and with some excellent results. He certainly proves why he was given the chance to host in 2025, but it doesn’t stop us from missing Stewart, and we want to know when he will be back.

Jon Stewart will be back on The Daily Show soon
There isn’t long to wait for Stewart’s return. The Monday, Jan. 26 episode is slated to be new, and we’ll get to see Stewart then. Stewart did recently sign on until the end of 2026 for Monday night episodes.
As of right now, there isn’t a plan for the week. The schedule is usually released later on in the day on Mondays, so we’ll have to wait and see what to expect.
There is a lot for Stewart to catch up on, with the recent discussions about Greenland and everything that happened at Davos. Then there’s the fact that the Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney, made it clear that Canadians shouldn’t want to be the 51st State.

Tapings for The Daily Show are still ongoing
There are all sorts of fears that The Daily Show won’t be back. After all, TV Guide shows that the series is in reruns for the next tow weeks, but that’s not the case. The Daily Show is currently taping new episodes, and there are plans all the way through to the end of January at the time of writing this.
What’s not clear is how the series will handle the Winter Olympics. In a way, the Winter Olympics shouldn’t affect coverage of The Daily Show. NBC will likely take the weeks off due to airing the coverage, but it’s not clear what ABC and CBS will do.
It is worth noting that there appears to be a break in the filming schedule in February. The last show to get tickets for is Thursday, Feb. 12, and then there is nothing until Monday, Feb. 23. This would suggest that there is a break in the schedule to come.
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11/10c on Comedy Central.
