Most people know comedian Pete Davidson for his run on Saturday Night Live. He joined the series at the age of 20 in 2014, and he stuck with it until 2022. Since then, he has come back as a guest host, but there are plenty of people wondering what it would take to get him back for good.
Well, Davidson is a little busy right now. He’s broken into the movie realm with comedic films such as Meet Cute and Bodies Bodies Bodies, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t make time to return to the sketch comedy show.

Pete Davidson shares the surprising but respectful reason he would return
When chatting with PEOPLE Magazine, Davidson shared that all Lorne Michaels has to do is ask. If Michaels wants him back, then he would be more than happy to step back into Studio 8H.
"I owe that guy my life. He jump-started everything. So I'd do anything for Lorne, and he knows that."
Of course, one of the things that makes SNL work so well is the changing main cast, but that doesn’t mean a former cast member can’t come back. We’ve seen it happen before, so if there was room for Davidson, Michaels could now feel comfortable asking.
This isn’t Davidson saying that he regrets his decision to leave the series, though. He’s just making it clear that he owes his career to Michaels, and he will return that with respect by coming back if he’s wanted and needed. He would also come back to guest-host if that’s all that is needed, which is something that he calls “an honor and a privilege.”

Where can you see Pete Davidson next?
If you’re keeping an eye on all things Davidson since leaving SNL, then you’ll want to look out for his upcoming movies. The biggest movie to look out for is one titled The Time We Met, which will also star Ella Purnell from Fallout.
The Time We Met is described as a “cosmic romantic comedy” by Deadline. It follows a couple who find out their unborn child is the savior of humanity in the future. Well, the problem is they’re not quite an official couple just yet. They have only been on one date, and they currently hate each other. How do you get past the hate to then start to enjoy a relationship, especially when you have this pressure of destiny on you?
He will also star in Amazon’s How to Rob a Bank, which is slated to be released on Sept. 4, 2026. It follows a crew of bank robbers who have documented all of their heists on social media. Of course, this leads to the police following them to stop them. Davidson will star with Nicholas Hoult, Anna Sawai, and Zoë Kravitz.
Saturday Night Live is currently on a short break, but you can catch up on previous episodes on Peacock.
