TV shows are on a break. That’s not just the case for the primetime shows, but also for the late night shows. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will air no more new episodes in 2025.
This is a perfectly understandable break, even though it is disappointing for many. It’s Christmas week, and all the shows go off the air around this time. The linear ratings take a dip, as the networks want to put on their holiday programming.
The break is going to be a long one, as it will lead into 2026. We just don’t have the rerun schedule for the second week of the break.

Why is The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon not new this week?
The winter break is common for most shows. Not only do the linear ratings take a dip, but the cast and crew of the shows deserve the time off to be with their families and friends. That’s what the holiday season is all about, right?
It’s not like we need to see a bunch of interviews all the time. In fact, trying to get celebrities to go on the air around this time is difficult, because, again, the celebrities want to spend their time with their friends.
It was clear with the push for Stranger Things coverage that The Tonight Show would go on a break after the Thursday, Dec. 18 episode. Stranger Things will air its final episodes during the winter break, so it was the last time to get the previews for those episodes.
We’re expecting The Tonight Show to return on Monday, Jan. 5. The schedule isn’t set or confirmed yet, though, so we’ll be keeping an eye on it.

The Tonight Show schedule for Christmas week
There are reruns throughout Christmas week. As of right now, the schedule up to Thursday, Dec. 25 has been set, so it’s not clear which rerun we’ll get on the last night of the week. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on this for those who are looking for something to watch.
Monday, Dec. 22: Co-host Millie Bobby Brown, Kenan Thompson, Burna Boy
Tuesday, Dec. 23: Timothée Chalamet, The Duffer Brothers, Bleachers
Wednesday, Dec. 24: Preempted for Christmas Mass.
Thursday, Dec. 25: Kate Hudson, John Satamos, Lily Allen, Laufey
There is still a big focus on Stranger Things in the lead up to Part 2 dropping on Christmas Day!
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on NBC.
