The Late Show with Stephen Colbert update for the week of June 30

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was made for weeks like this one. But with so much going on, what should fans expect to see on CBS this week?

The Senate is making its way through President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill." It's the kind of story tailor-made for Stephen Colbert's monologue, given the Late Show host's politics and the cast of characters spotlighted in these kinds of debates.

Sadly, we won't get to hear what Colbert made of things on Monday night. There will not be a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight.

Instead, CBS will reair the June 11 episode. Interested viewers can tune in to see Colman Domingo, Gary Oldman, Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Jonathan Pryce.

It's not all that surprising to see The Late Show with Stephen Colbert close up shop this week. The July 4 holiday on Friday means the CBS late-night TV show gets a vacation, earning some time to rest and relax before a return.

When will The Late Show with Stephen Colbert return?

The bad news continues for late-night TV fans who appreciate a nightly dose of Stephen Colbert. The Late Show's hiatus will go beyond just this week.

CBS has another week of repeat episodes on the schedule for next week, too. Beginning Monday, July 7, more reruns will be on during the Late Show's normal timeslot.

This week, audiences can revisit appearances by Mariska Hargitay, Senator Tammy Duckworth, John C. Reilly, Eva Victor, Natalie Portman, Dawn Staley, Wednesday, Mark Hamill, and Cristin Milioti.

Next week, look for Jacinda Ardern, King Princess, William Shatner, Neil deGrasse Tyson, the Doobie Brothers, Jean Smart, Governor Josh Stein, Clarissa Ward, Michael C. Hall, Sienna Spiro, Paul Simon, and Representative Maxwell Frost.
