Sometimes, it can be hard to keep track of things going on in the world of TV. Especially in the world of late night TV. If you tuned in for a new episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday, Nov. 13, you were likely disappointed to see a rerun.

This wasn’t an issue with programming. Deadline warned everyone ahead of time that there wouldn’t be a new episode, and now it makes sense why there was only a schedule announced up until Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Stephen Colbert had another gig

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert took a short break so that the host could co-host the GQ’s Man of the Year event. He and Sydney Sweeney, Seth Rogan, Oscar Isaac, SZA, Clipse, and Hailey Bieber took to the Ed Sullivan Theater for the job.

It meant that Thursday, Nov. 14, only had two late night programming events on traditional broadcast. Remember, Jimmy Kimmel Live! announced it would take a break from programming due to the death of bandleader Cleto Escobedo III. So, NBC aired The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers as the only look into late night TV.

The gig with GQ probably wouldn’t be that surprising for many, as Colbert had recently done an interview for the Man of the Year coverage to talk about the change coming to his career. It was then that he pointed out that his show was probably the first one to be No. 1 in the ratings and get canceled. However, he remained positive, and focused on how he would love to continue creating things in the future.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will air another rerun tonight

It’s worth nothing that Friday, Nov. 14 will also see a rerun of The Late Show. According to TV Guide’s listings, we’ll get a rerun of the Oct. 30, 2025 episode, which included an interview with Sir Anthony Hopkins, where he talked all about his impressive career from The Silence of the Lambs to The Father.

As of Monday, Nov. 17, the show will return to new episodes, with Julia Roberts taking to the chairs with the host. Fans will also get to see interviews with Ted Danson and Benedict Cumberbatch, and there will be performances by John Fogerty and Billy Strings. There’s plenty to look forward to, even with the odd break in the schedule here and there.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
