A new week is here, which means we’re excited to see who could appear on the various late night shows. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has set its schedule for the week of Monday, Dec. 8.

Well, it’s set the first two nights. Like with previous weeks, the show will add guests as the week goes on. This all depends on the availability of various actors. In some bad news, though, we’re going to be heading into a break from new episodes very soon. This traditionally happens after this week, but it’s not too clear what CBS is planning just yet, as primetime shows are still going right up until Friday, Dec. 19!

Monday, December 8

The first night of the week will see Sigourney Weaver take to the couch to talk all about Avatar: Fire & Ash. Weaver takes on the role of a teenager in the third movie in the franchise, and that’s sure to lead to some interesting conversations. Just remember, that in this world people take on avatars, so her former character’s teenage daughter has connected with the avatar in the mythical world.

Then Mandy Patinkin will appear on the podcast to talk all about his podcast Don’t Listen to Us. I would love to see questions about Brilliant Minds, as there is the possibility of him returning in the new year to that show! Then there will be a performance of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker with Tiler Peck featured.

Tuesday, December 9

The second night of the week will see Laura Dern take to the couch. This is to talk about Is This Thing On?, her standup comedy, but there may be a discussion about Big Little Lies season 3. After all, there are talks of the third season happening!

Then Andrew Ross Sorkin will talk about AI concerns. The New York Times financial columnist has a book called “1929: The Inside Story of the Greatest Crash,” and while it focuses on the Great Depression and the Stock Market crash, there are signs of a repeat happening if we’re not careful! Then Evie McGee Colbert will take part in “First Drafts.”

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for the rest of the week

There are no guests confirmed just yet for the rest of the week. We’ll be sure to update as we did last week when there is confirmation. Friday, Dec. 12, we are expecting to see a rerun as has been the case for a few weeks now.

There is a break coming, so we’ll be keeping an eye on the dates for that, along with the dates for new episodes to return in 2026. There are still some episodes before The Late Show comes to an end in May 2026.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on CBS.
