With some late night TV shows airing tonight, Thursday, Nov. 27, it’s not surprising that there is a bit of confusion over other shows. As we mentioned earlier this week, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is not new tonight.

The lack of new episode tonight itself isn’t that surprising. It’s Thanksgiving. However, this series has been off all week, and it’s led to questions about it. It’s just a standard week off for Colbert, as CBS has opted to put the majority of their shows on hold this week, and it does make sense when you consider the travel plans many would have had.

What on instead of The Late Show tonight?

In some good news, you can still watch a rerun of the series. As mentioned, the entire week has been filled with reruns from late October and early November, and tonight is a rerun of the Nov. 3, 2025 episode.

You’ll be able to see the episode with Tom Hanks again. Mavis Staples performed during the night, and of course, there is the monologue from Colbert to start off the night!

If you don’t want to watch that rerun, there’s some great news. The Late Show heads to Paramount+ after new episodes air, so you can catch up on previous interviews right there.

We do expect new episodes of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2025

For many shows, the break in the schedule around this time of year can lead to a longer break. There are some shows that will go on their winter hiatuses, and that even includes the late night TV shows! However, we’re not expecting a break just yet.

While CBS hasn’t announced plans at the time of writing this, we do expect The Late Show to return on Monday, Dec. 1 with a new episode. We’re sure to get a couple of weeks of new episodes before the show goes on its winter break. After that, we tend to see the show take a few weeks off into January.

Now, whether The Late Show will return in January is up for debate. CBS has opted to hold all scripted shows until February due to the upcoming Winter Olympic Games. I don’t foresee that happening with the late night show, mostly because the timing won’t be affected by Winter Olympic coverage on NBC, but it’s something we’ll be keeping an eye on at Last Night On.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
