Stephen Colbert continues to have the best sense of humor about everything going on with his show, whether it's being called out by the president and signing off the air for the summer. As always, the host of The Late Show brought the laughs until the last second when bringing his current season to a close. New episodes aren't on the horizon, but it's not over yet. He will be back!
While signing off of The Late Show and heading into an upcoming stretch of reruns, the late night host, whose show infamously just got the axe from CBS, is still in good spirits. Before signing off the air for the summer, Colbert joked for Netflix to give him a call: "I'm available in June." He's already keeping his options open for when his show goes off the air for good, which isn't now.
Beginning on Friday, Aug. 8, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert goes into a planned summer hiatus, which continues through at least Friday, Aug. 15. Last summer, the host took a two-week break in the summer that began in late July. Given everything that's been happening, the show has continued to push through. Wondering which reruns will be airing for the next week? Check out the schedule!

Per the CBS press site, on Aug. 8, The Late Show's episode from July 31 featuring Vice President Kamala Harris and musical guest Reneé Rapp will be the first to kick off the summer hiatus. The following week will continue with more episodes featuring huge stars and personalities that originally aired throughout the year, dating all the way back from February though May.
On Monday, Aug. 11, fans can enjoy a reairing of the Feb. 18 episode featuring George Clooney and Reacher star Alan Ritchson. On Tuesday, Aug. 12, get a second look at the April 15 episode, which had guests David Oyelowo, Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, Alan Cumming, and musical guest OK Go. The Late Show reairs another episode with a political figure, as the May 15 episode with Bernie Sanders and musical guest Pavement fills the Wednesday, Aug. 13 timeslot.
Fellow late night host and ally John Oliver returns to The Late Show on Thursday, Aug. 14 thanks to the reairing of the Feb. 17 episode, which also had a performance by The War and Treaty. Finally, the week closes out with another recent episode from July with guests Leanne Morgan and Bad Bunny, who both recently starred in the Netflix hits Leanne and Happy Gilmore 2.
It's unclear exactly when Colbert will return to The Late Show with new episodes following this hiatus of reruns, but these are some great episodes to hold us over. And if there's another week following this one, those reruns will surely be solid stand-ins, too. But Colbert will definitely be back, as CBS won't be ending The Late Show officially until May 2026. Netflix, apparently it's your move!
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs Monday-Friday at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
