Stephen Colbert agrees with Donald Trump for once (but there's a catch)
Stephen Colbert and Donald Trump are diametrically opposed on most topics. The former has repeatedly mocked the latter's policies and political stances. He did, however, change his tune a bit after Trump's recent campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
Trump told those in attendance to vote for him on January 5, which, of course, is a full two months after the polls close. The clip was played during Colbert's Late Show monologue, and he could not believe what he heard. The host decided to set his bias aside and co-sign Trump's plea.
Colbert capitalized on Trump's rally confusion
"You know what? I’ll tell you what," he told a giggling audience. "I’ll tell you what. It’s rare that I agree with Donald Trump, but I’m a big enough man to admit when I do." Colbert then decided to throw all his weight behind Trump's obviously incorrect assertion and urged Trump voters to listen:
" I’m with him on this one. So to all of his supporters, please do not forget to vote on January 5."
Colbert has been having more fun than usual at Donald Trump's expense. The Late Night host also decided to poke fun at the former President's dance moves, after a bizarre, wordless display at a town hall event. He parodied Trump's dance moves, then pulled an uncharacteristic move and actually did an impression of President Joe Biden.
The host also mocked Trump's dance moves
Colbert threw aviator shades on and mocked Trump with Biden's halting delivery. "You kicked me out of the race for being too old and crazy," the host quipped. "That guy’s doing the dayroom shuffle to 'November Rain.'"
The Late Show host also threw it back to Trump's inflammatory comments about Haitian immigrants eating pets. "Trump closed out the event with some handshaking to another beloved song, 'Memory,'" he added. "Which, of course, is from his favorite musical: 'They're Eating the Cats.'"
The election may be stressful for many, but it's certainly giving Colbert and company plenty of material to work with.
