South Park kicked off its twenty-seventh season on July 23 with a bold and unapologetic episode centered on President Donald Trump, and boy, did it have everyone tuned in and talking! Now that a week has passed since its release, the numbers are in, and they’re nothing short of impressive.

We hadn't seen a new season of this popular long-running adult animated series since 2023. Sure, there were specials sprinkled in between, but this premiere marked a major return, and fans clearly showed up in full force. According to Variety, the first episode was watched by 5.9 million viewers across two platforms in just the first three days of its release. Those platforms were Paramount+ (streaming) and Comedy Central (cable TV).

Not only did the episode dominate in viewership, but it also reportedly scored the biggest linear premiere for South Park since 1999 and topped all cable telecasts the day it came out. Even more impressively, it delivered the show's highest rating in the key 18–49 demographic since 2022, improving 15% over the previous season’s premiere. This is proof that after nearly three decades, South Park still knows how to strike a cultural nerve and pull in massive attention.

Titled "Sermon on the 'Mount," the first episode features creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone heavily mocking President Donald Trump, especially his criticisms of Paramount Global, the parent company of Comedy Central. The episode also satirizes Trump’s second term as president, touching on things like legal cases involving his administration and the Jeffrey Epstein investigations. But the part of the episode that really had everyone talking is the bit where an animated Trump is shown in a fake sexual relationship with Satan.

If you missed the show's premiere on Comedy Central, there's no need to worry. The episode is currently available to stream on Paramount+, so you can catch up anytime. The second episode was originally supposed to air on July 30, but was pushed back for unknown reasons. It is now set to air on Comedy Central on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025. If you'd rather stream the episode, you'll have to wait until the following day when it lands on Paramount+.

A new teaser trailer was released to hold you over until the second episode comes out, and it looks like the animated series isn’t finished exploring the Trump and Satan storyline just yet. You can check out the trailer below!
