Late Night with Seth Meyers is the undisputed late-night TV home for Saturday Night Live nostalgia. The SNL 50th anniversary special coming up makes it the perfect time to spotlight some of the show's best writers.
Seth Meyers didn't go far when he left Saturday Night Live and took over Late Night. He also made good use of his SNL connections by showcasing countless former cast members and writers to help with interviews and sketches on Late Night.
Now, Saturday Night Live's former head writer is handing over his stage to some famous Saturday Night Live writers. Here's who's coming on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week.
Paula Pell
Paula Pell kicks things off when she joins the show on Monday, February 10. She'll be on Late Night with Seth Meyers along with Sing Sing star Colman Domingo.
Pell had a ridiculously productive tenure as an SNL writer from 1995 to 2013. Thanks to her, the world has characters like Debbie Downer and the Spartan Cheerleaders. Amy Poehler once called Pell the funniest person in any room at SNL. Expect Pell to have some highly entertaining stories from her SNL years.
James Anderson
James Anderson gets his turn on Tuesday, February 11. He'll chat with Seth Meyers after Bill Murray and Mikey Madison visit the show.
Anderson was a Saturday Night Live writer from 2000 to 2020. He did some of his best work with Kristen Wiig and Cecily Strong. Anderson also frequently collaborated with Paula Pell, so he could verify any stories she tells the night before.
Emily Spivey
Late Night with Seth Meyers welcomes Emily Spivey on Wednesday, February 11. She'll follow Jon Hamm as the show's second guest.
Spivey wrote for Saturday Night Live from 2001 to 2010, picking up a pair of Emmy Awards along the way. She started at SNL the same year as Seth Meyers, so there's a lot of shared history between the two. Spivey is behind some fan-favorite characters like Amy Poehler's Kaitlin, the "Bronx Beat" women, and Maya Rudolph's version of Oprah.
Harper Steele
Late Night with Seth Meyers closes out SNL writers week with Harper Steele on Thursday, February 13. Tom Hanks will also be on the show.
Steele served as an SNL writer from 1995 to 2008. Her tenure as head writer ran from 2004 through 2008. Jimmy Fallon dubbed Steele one of the funniest people he's ever met.
She began at SNL the same time as Will Ferrell and the two shared a productive working relationship. Their friendship was also the focal point of the 2024 documentary, Will & Harper.
Late Night with Seth Meyers airs on NBC at 12:35 a.m. ET. It also streams on Peacock.
