Saturday Night Live is going all out to celebrate its 50th year on television. The sketch show has special episodes and exclusive behind-the-scenes looks for fans to get the full SNL experience.
Anticipation for SNL's 50th anniversary has been building for years. Fans were eager to see what surprises were in store during season 50, while others speculated if this would be when Lorne Michaels finally rode off into the sunset.
Season 50 has been full of cameos, and Lorne Michaels doesn't have plans to go anywhere. But there is still plenty more for Saturday Night Live fans to sink their teeth into around the show's historic milestone.
Saturday Night
While not officially affiliated with Saturday Night Live, the movie Saturday Night deserves a spot in this guide. The movie takes a dramatized look at what Lorne Michaels had to do to get the first episode on the air in 1975.
Whether you were there when it aired or want to get a sense of the energy coming from that original cast, Saturday Night is worth a watch. It may not have Chevy Chase's endorsement, but the movie is a must-watch for SNL die-hards.

SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night
SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night is the definitive Saturday Night Live documentary. It just may be the best thing that comes out of all the fanfare surrounding season 50.
The four-part documentary covers the audition process, what goes on in the writers' room, the famous "More Cowbell" sketch, and the infamous 11th season.
Countless famous faces appear in the documentary including Conan O'Brien, Molly Shannon, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Spade, Pete Davidson, and Al Franken.

Ladies & Gentlemen ... 50 Years of SNL Music
Questlove of The Roots co-directed this documentary looking at the important role music has played in Saturday Night Live's history. It takes a deep dive into the most influential perfomances and musicians to ever visit Studio 8H.
While not everyone agreed to revisit their past SNL performances, there are still plenty of music superstars involved in the documentary.

SNL50: The Homecoming Concert
Speaking of music, Saturday Night Live also announced plans for a concert special to celebrate the 50th season. A star-studded lineup is ready to rock.
The lineup includes Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Mumford & Sons, and Post Malone. More acts are expected to be announced, and Jimmy Fallon will serve as host.

SNL50: The Anniversary Special
It all culminates with SNL50: The Anniversary Special. The stars will be out in full force and pack Studio 8H for an unforgettable night.
The three-hour special will air in primetime on NBC. No official host or guest list has been announced. But if it's anything like the 40th anniversary special, you can expect names like Steve Martin, Taylor Swift, and just about every living cast member to be in the house.
