Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie shared heartbreaking news on Wednesday. The comedian announced the death of his sister, four months after she was reported missing.

In a post on Instagram Wednesday, Fowlie revealed that his sister, Christina Lynn Downer, is “no longer alive,” and that the Los Angeles Police Department has officially transitioned the case from a missing persons investigation to a homicide.

“Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable," Fowlie wrote. He went on to allege troubling details about the circumstances surrounding his sister’s disappearance, claiming that individuals used her phone in an effort to conceal what had happened.

“The individuals in possession of her phone used it to hide the fact she was gone, to ask for money, and to create a false narrative that she was going ‘off the grid,’” he wrote. “I am sharing this because I believe that whoever is responsible is hoping to erase her in every way possible. I want to amplify her story in the only way I know how.”

The Saturday Night Live writer went on to urge anyone with information to come forward. He encouraged his followers and supporters to share Downer's story in the hopes of finding any new information that could potentially explain what happened.

Members of the Saturday Night Live community expressed support for Fowlie in the aftermath of the news. Former cast members including Beck Bennett, Bobby Moynihan, and Taran Killam liked the post, while Kenan Thompson left a comforting comment.

Fowlie joined Saturday Night Live as a writer in 2022 for season 48. Perhaps most notably, he is a co-writer of the wildly popular "Domingo" sketches starring Marcello Hernandez.

Prior to SNL, Fowlie was a member of The Groundlings and had gained traction for Go-Go Boy Interrupted, an LGBT-themed sketch comedy show. He also co-wrote the one-woman show So Long Boulder City inspired by Emma Stone's character in La La Land.

Fowlie's acting credits include English Teacher, Search Party, The Other Two, and 2 Broke Girls. More recently, he co-wrote the Netflix movie Roommates with fellow Saturday Night Live writer Ceara O'Sullivan. Produced by Adam Sandler, the film stars his daughter Sadie Sandler, and features appearances by SNL's Sarah Sherman and Martin Herlihy.
